Title: Angelic Conflict part 163: Human history (soul and spirit) - HEB 4:9-12; 1CO 2:9-16; 9:27; ROM 8:12-17; 1PE 1:2-4; EPH 5:2-21.

The Spirit of God or the spirit of the world can influence our souls.

In the CA, which is the intensified stage of the angelic conflict, satan has ramped up the intensity and magnitude of his deception campaign and so God has given us a spiritual life that gains insight into the deep things of God, which is embodied in the hidden wisdom or the mystery doctrine of the CA. As Christ gave His disciples the power over actual demons He has given us power over the doctrines of demons which is embodied in the deceit of modern idol worship. This power and wisdom is designed to enter the CA believer into the daily divine rest that has been left behind by Christ after He ascended into heaven.

1CO 2:1And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

1CO 2:2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

1CO 2:3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling.

1CO 2:4 And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

1CO 2:5 that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

1CO 2:6 Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature [excluding unbelievers and infant believers]; a wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away;

The mature are the spiritual men - influence of divine spirit and God the Holy Spirit:

1CO 3:1

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual [pneumatikos] men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes [infants] in Christ.

1CO 2:7 but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

"hidden" - avpokru,ptw[apokrupto] = cover from, conceal from, keep secret from.

This would be the antonym to revelation which comes by means of God the Holy Spirit.

This wisdom or mystery doctrine of the Church age which would produce spiritual men unlike any in all history before the Church was kept hidden from the prophets and writers and from all before us, including elect and fallen angels, but now has been revealed so that we may actually share in the glory that belongs to Christ.

The glory of Christ is revealed from the word of God by means of the Holy Spirit to the new divine spirit and then to the soul [mind and heart] comprising the spiritual man.

1CO 2:8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

Evil men were needed for God to execute His perfect plan for the salvation of all men. This is a major theme in the AC.

John 18:38

Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?"

1CO 2:9 but just as it is written [combination of ISA 64:4; 52:15; 65:17],

"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,

And which have not entered the heart of man,

All that God has prepared for those who love Him."

1CO 2:10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

"revealed" - avokalu,ptw[apokalupto] = to uncover or to unveil.

The context (vs. 11) reveals that this is God the Holy Spirit. Only He would know the deep things of God and it is none other than He that reveals them to us.

Yet we gain insight into the functional relationship between God the Holy Spirit and the new divine spirit in ROM 8:15-16.

ROM 8:12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh —

ROM 8:13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die [temporal death]; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

The OSN is associated with the physical body. When this is in view the Bible uses the word "flesh."

ROM 7:23 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?

This is only stating the location and source of the sin nature and not promoting asceticism in rough treatment or unreasonable denial of the body. Who will set me free from the temporal death of OSN rule? Christ through the new creature and the hidden wisdom.

The new creature in Christ (soul/spirit/God the HS/doctrine) can rule the body as well as the soul so it is used to glorify God.

ROM 6:12 Therefore do not let sin (OSN) reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts,

ROM 6:13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

ROM 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.

ROM 12:1

I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

1CO 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.

1CO 9:25 And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.

1CO 9:26 Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;

1CO 9:27 but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

"disqualified" - avdo,kimoj[adokimos] = not standing the test, rejected, found to be impure upon testing.

ROM 8:12 So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh —

ROM 8:13 for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die [temporal death]; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

ROM 8:14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God [CA adoption].

ROM 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

"Abba" - intimate and personal relationship. "Father" - authority to be reverently feared and respected. It is the spirit and the Spirit that makes this real to the soul.

The new divine spirit as witnessed to by the Holy Spirit influences the soul to have a balance of both types of relationship with God the Father - tender and obedient.

A false or opposing spirit of slavery (ROM 8:15), the world (1CO 2:12), jealousy (NUM 5:14), fear (2TI 1:7), or slumber (ROM 11:8) will only oppose the reality of sonship rest.

ROM 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

"bears witness with" - marture,w[martureo] = to bear witness to or to testify to.

ROM 8:17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.

A believer would never suffer like Christ did if he was not completely influenced by the word of God, the new divine spirit, and God the Holy Spirit, thus being a mature and spiritual man.
